The Land Titles Office examines and registers a variety of documents including transfers of ownership, mortgages, leases, easements, caveats, powers of attorney, writs of execution, mechanics' liens, plans of survey and condominium documents and plans.
Pursuant to the Land Titles Act, Condominium Act and other legislation, the Land Titles Office has the legal responsibility to maintain records of ownership and other registered interests in surveyed land in the Northwest Territories, and to ensure the accuracy of those records.
While information about the services provided by the Land Titles Office can be accessed by a variety of methods, the actual submission of documents for registration/filing must be done by mail or in-person, as original documents must be submitted.
Certificate of title searches can be requested by fax, mail, email and in-person as long as fee payment is made by cash, cheque or credit card at the time of the request.
