Provide kindergarten students across Yellowknife and Dettah the opportunity to come to the Legislative Assembly building to decorate a Christmas tree in the Great Hall.
Provides funding for agricultural research studies and pilot projects to investigate and evaluate the cultivation of new crops to increase crop diversification, production techniques, processing and the commercial feasibility of non-timber forest products relevant to the NWT
Provides support for food processing plant personnel food safety training, processing facility HACCP plan development, food safety programs pertaining to commercial wildlife harvest and health risk assessments related to contaminated animals to NWT agricultural producers, food harvesters, food processors and business managers.
Supports the development of the NWT agriculture industry and helps agricultural producers, agri-food processors, harvesters and agri-business managers obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to increase production and become more competitive in the marketplace.
Promotes international markets for Northwest Territories fish products to increase trade and returns to both fishers and the Great Slave Lake fishery. Support is provided through the Fishermen's Federation in Hay River - the representative body for the Great Slave Lake commercial fishing industry.
Gives preference to registered Northwest Territories businesses in the Government's purchase of all products and services. The policy also applies to all contracts entered into directly by the Government of the Northwest Territories.
Gives incentive to local production and manufacturing of goods for the use of the GNWT under the Business Incentive Policy. BIP-registered businesses may apply to have their NWT-made goods registered as an Approved NWT Manufactured Product.
