An Emergency Protection Order (EPO) is a legal order that provides emergency protection to victims of family violence. IF YOU ARE IN DANGER, CALL YOUR LOCAL RCMP.
An EPO can provide emergency protection that lasts up to 90 days. It may order the abusive person to stay away from the victim and children in their care, allow the victim to stay in the family home without the abusive person being there, and/or require the RCMP to take away any weapons the abusive person may have.
Victims of family violence can apply for an EPO at any time by contacting their local RCMP or by calling YWCA Alison McAteer house at 1-866-223-7775.
