Additional Info:

Restorative justice in the NWT is achieved by using alternative measures. By using alternative measures, criminal matters are diverted by the Police or Crown away from the traditional court system and are handled in the community by the Justice Committee. The offender does not get a criminal record by this process.

To contact a Justice Committee, or for more information on restorative justice programs in the NWT, please call 1-867-873-7002. Please be aware that your community's Justice Committee may not be operational at all times.
