The Legal Aid Commission provides legal advice and legal representation to people who cannot afford to pay for such services. People must meet financially eligible criteria.
Note: Staff travel to communities where no resident staff exist.
Today, the Commision operates four legal aid clinics. Three of these clinics, two in Yellowknife and one in Inuvik, provide both family and criminal law services, and another clinic in Yellowknife provides family, criminal and legal aid outreach services.
The clinics serve clients in all NWT communities.
